We very briefly stayed at the King Rock Boutique Hotel in Siem Reap after a long drive from Phnom Penh, very much looking forward to a luxurious end to our honeymoon. We checked in and were shown to our room and things went downhill quickly, we were greeted with an appalling sight that fell far short of the promised 4-star hotel rating and nothing at all like the photos. It was glaringly obvious that basic cleanliness was not a priority for this hotel. The state of the room was truly woeful. Mould was on the shower blind. Dirt and grime had ground into the wooden floors and surfaces over time. The condition of the toilet was truly reminiscent of student accommodation, both in terms of unsightly stains on the toilet bowl and an unpleasant odor. Furthermore, the exposed lighting wiring in the wardrobe and exposed metal pipe work outside not only raised safety concerns but also spoke to the hotel's overall lack of attention (or care) to maintenance or safety standards. The presence of rotten floorboards on the terrace further reinforced the clear state of neglect throughout the hotel. Although we must acknowledge the hotel's decent location, it simply cannot overshadow the multitude of issues we encountered. In conclusion, our 4 hour stay at the King Rock Boutique Hotel was thoroughly dreadful, we checked out as soon as we got confirmation from the hotel that as we weren’t staying, we weren’t getting charged. We implore the management to take immediate action to rectify these issues and restore the hotel to the standards it claims to uphold. Until then, we cannot, in good conscience, recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a decent nights stay.
