普羅蒂亞萬豪Protea酒店(Protea Hotel Knysna Quays)

Nice hotel to stay in if you want to be near the waterfront or the bus station. I had to check out very early in the morning and the hotel prepared a breakfast bag for me which I really appreciated. The room I checked into was very basic, no slippers or robe for the guests either which was a bit of a let down. The bathroom water was not hot, this was another let down considering that it was a cold winter day. Overall an average experience.

Celebrated my mom’s birthday. We enjoyed our stay, loved the pool and our room was spacious and clean. The buffet breakfast is great, wish it had pancakes or waffles for vegetarians. The hotel is located at the heart of Knysna- short stroll to the waterfront, plenty of restaurants& activities. Parking is available on site for ZAR30 p/ night and tourism levy is ZAR30 p/ night. Our check in was 30 minutes late, (14:30) bit disappointed, but we understand it was peak period. Otherwise highly recommend and will definitely return!

Das Hotel ist sehr schön direkt an der Lagune gelegen. wir hatten einen Blick auf den Hafen mit Sonnenuntergang und allem drum und dran. der Pool ist gut nutzbar erfrischend und wir haben immer eine Liege gefunden. das Frühstück ist umfangreich in einer Halle. die Zimmer sind ordentlich geräumig sehr gute Klimaanlage tolle Matratzen aber etwas in die Jahre gekommen wie leider das ganze Hotel. Habe traumhaft geschlafen. ich möchte ausdrücklich darauf hinweisen dass das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis sehr gut ist was mich allerdings manchmal wundert ist warum man nicht hier und da beginnt etwas zu renovieren. mal die Liegen Auflagen auswechseln die dreckig sind mal hier und da mit dem Farbpinsel etwas auffrischen. das Hotel hat im Endeffekt den 70er Jahre Charakter typischer ostafrikanischer Bauten ist aber ansonsten ein schönes Hotel wenn man sehr modern Häuser haben will muss man auf Theben Island ausweichen. Vergleichen zu Europa würde ich es mit einem Ibis hotel.

Die Lage ist hervorragend, genau an den Knysa Quays. Das Hotel selbst ist eigentlich auch schön. Leider fällt an allen Ecken und Enden auf, dass das Haus etwas vernachlässigt wird. Ansonsten war eigentlich alles gut. Das Zimmer war ok, das Personal ist nett, mehr aber auch nicht. Das Frühstück ist ok, aber auch nicht mehr. Das Personal beim Frühstück könnte etwas mehr auf Zack sein. Für 2-3 Nächste ist das Hotel absolut ok. Es wäre allerdings schön, wenn hier ein wenig mehr getan würde.

This was a 2 night stay in 2 double bedded Lagoon view room We arrived before check-in started and our room was not ready – but the helpful lady (with green painted nails) at reception checked us in and we left in search of lunch which as the hotel is in the Waterfront area there were a number of choices nearby We stayed in room 310 - facing the marina and waterfront – with views across the bay to the hills opposite – this was a top floor room – nicely appointed – cleanly decorated - with 2 comfortable queen sized beds with 4 pillows each – flat-screen TV - fridge - wall mounted air conditioning - easy chair – door to adjoining room (not a problem) - hanging and storage space – large safe - sliding door to compact bathroom - separate bath and shower – latter well-controlled – toiletries - Juliette balcony with sliding door Breakfast - decent buffet of hot and cold options - sweet and savoury - I liked the spicy mince dish - the fruity chicken dish - the chicken sausage - pastries – cheeses - cold meats - breads - egg station was popular - choice of juices - good coffee Hotel popular stop with tour buses - at least one per day – they appeared to eat at the Dry Dock which was affiliated to the Hotel and were gone by 9.00 in the next morning This a modern hotel with central open “atrium” for the staircase – and the rooms are fronted by open corridors – despite this open design the room and the hotel very quiet Outside there is a small pool with loungers that was popular when the sun shone The hotel is well located – as it is almost an extension of the Waterfront Complex – with its shops restaurants and activity packages – and is at the bottom of a steepish hill from main shopping area and Knysna Mall There is paid for secure parking (30 rand per day) in front of the hotel which is accessed through a manned barrier – the area around the Waterfront felt safe at night We enjoyed this hotel – not luxurious but very comfortable – breakfast good – quiet - staff were engaging and helpful – thank you
