This is probably the worst accomodation I've ever stayed in. Our balcony looked over a run down carpark. Had to park on the street overnight because of insufficent parking. The room itself was so poorly maintained and the cleaniness... someone elses long black hair all in the shower and bathroom and food residue in the oven.

My family and I stayed at Mantra Wollongong for 1 night as part of a family road trip. When we arrived at the front of the hotel by car, there was nowhere to stop the car so I had to park a block away and walk to the entrance. The receptionist was very quick to check us in and charge my card. After all the paperwork was signed (and my card charged for the full price), she said “Oh, by the way, I’m sorry but the only elevator in the building is broken, so you’re going to have to use the stairs.” Our room was on the 6th floor. I asked her, “You mean we have to bring our luggage up 6 floors by stairs?” To which she replied “Yes, we’re fully booked, I’m sorry but there’s nothing we can do.” There was no offer of any compensation, not even a 10% discount or bottled water. Still, my sister and I, both in our late 30s, lugged 2 x 20kg suitcases and 2 small ones up 6 floors via dusty and stuffy fire stairs. When we finally reached the room, NONE of the 4 key cards worked. NONE. So I had to go all the way back down again to get replacement key cards, and walk up the 6 floors again. All this on a 36 degrees day. On top of all this, the 2 bedroom apartment was advertised as air-conditioned, but there was only 1 aircon unit in the living room. The 2 bedrooms had no aircon. The ‘eco-friendly’ body wash and shampoo pump bottles provided were half-full and extremely diluted from spending months under the shower spray, and just didn’t feel sanitary at all. All this for $400/night.

Ok, the apartment was dirty. There was snot or some sort of bodily fluid on the bed head that I had to use a sponge with hot water to remove. The air conditioner was probably the noisiest A/C I’ve ever heard. I’m not sure what had happened to the lounge room wall but it looked really dodgy. Not worth the money I paid at all. Also not sure what was going on with the apartment opposite the elevator?? The door was left wide open all day and night and look like the room had been ransacked. Just to make us feel that little bit uneasy upon arrival.

Room not available at check in time. Some rubbish left in room (chips on floor, food wrappers on couch, oven filthy. Wifi not available. Phone not working.

2 nights staying with my husband and our puppy. Very old and below the average hotel.furniture was outdated and needed replacing but comfortable bed and clean bedding. Reception staff was also nice.

Liked: Large rooms, clean comfortable bed, pillows and linens. Good central location Disliked: Mould in bathroom grout. Overall worn condition; walls need repainting. Foil lining on oven tray placed over greasy unwashed surface.

The property was run down, the furniture was dated, the walls and doors were scuffed.

Extremely close to train station. Excellent value, any issues I had were quickly resolved. However the property doesn't seem to have disabled access from the street. This was not a problem for my elderly father as there were only 8 steps to climb. All in all 10/10.

We stayed in a 2 bed apartment for a birthday for 1 night which at $500 was a bit steep but we thought it would be a luxury stay. I have to say it was far from it. On first entry the room looked nice and well presented. However when you looked at the glass sliding doors and windows to the balcony it was obvious these had not been cleaned in a while. It looked like a kids party had been there with sticky hand prints all over. The glass fence on the balcony had many generations of spider webs and same said sticky hand prints. I know you might think this is picky but for $500 per night I expected much better. The dining table had metal angle brackets screwed to 2 of the legs and big screws through the top in a agricultural type repair. Then came breakfast the next morning there were no markings on the oven hob as it was that old so didnt know which knob did what or which way was high low,and when I opened the oven the tray inside still had previous guests bacon fat on the foil and the fridge had not been cleaned from previous guests. Bathroom also had mouldy spots. All in all those things took the gloss off to be honest.
