清涼休息民宿(Shady Rest Bed & Breakfast)

Nog nooit zo een close contact gehad met een B&B gastvrouw die zichzelf uit de naad werkt om ons als gasten alles te bieden wat je van een B&B verwacht. Janice is echt een fantastische persoon en is zeer familiair als je het toelaat. Het huis is 107 jaar oud en dat zie je er aan doch dat heeft een enorme charme. Het lijkt in het begin wat shady maar daar moet je doorkijken. De kamers zijn goed en toen er een elektrisch probleem was met de stopcontacten, hebben we een upgrade naar een grotere kamer gekregen. Super ! Locatie is ook top. Nog eens bedankt Janice !

Stayed at the Shady Rest for a week earlier in December. Fantastic location with lots of things to do and explore around Golden Bay. Treat yourself to a bit of luxury and enjoy great hospitality where nothing is too much trouble.

Historic 100 year old charming home. Well appointed with tin ceilings, original hardwood carved walls/molding, decorative fireplaces, remodeled private bathrooms and charming English Innkeeper. You will be greeted by Innkeeper and a cup of tea. Mark provided an introduction to the area, pointing out hiking trails and restaurant recommendations that were spot on. The room and bedding were suitably comfortable. We enjoyed out three days exploring Takara and certainly enjoyed the Shady Rest. Highly recommended

Grand old place (former hospital) with a lot of character. Mark, who runs the place, is a very friendly and ‘can do’ bloke. He made us feel very welcome and was flexible with our changing arrangements. Comfortable lodgings and great value for money. The eggs and coffee each morning were excellent. I’d certainly stay at Shady Rest if I return to Takaka. Two thumbs up.

Dave was an exceptional host and didn't mind the (very) late check-in at all. He even let us change rooms free of charge after we accidentally booked a single room instead of a double.The breakfast was amazing and we loved his chef outfit so much. Everything was literally a 10/10.

A gorgeous B&B. Beautiful, confortable. You feel happy to be there. And the owner, Mark, is friendly, nice, helpful. A real host! We really loved our stay and would love to go back. Dominique & Serge

Beautiful house in a great location. Mark is a fabulous host, incredibly helpful, giving us some great tips on places to visit. He also cooks a perfect poached egg!

A charming, very traditional bed and breakfast in a historic building. Mark couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. Clean and comfortable The rate includes a terrific breakfast. Highly recommend this as your stay option in Tākaka.
