伊努維克新星旅館(Nova Inn Inuvik)

The staff, especially Hope, make Nova Inn a great alternative when staying in Inuvik. Even when facility issues are beyond their control, they keep smiling and offering friendly guest services.

I was there in 2018 and 2022. The place is due for a remodel for sure but at the time I wasn’t picky. I never tried any of the other hotels in town. Staff was fine, breakfast was basic but the coffee was plentiful.

I think people just have to give this place a chance. It has plenty of potential, rooms are big, hallways are wide, it’s pretty clean. I think when you are in Inuvik, you have to adjust your expectations. Staff are super friendly and trying their best with limited resources. It’s really not a bad place to take a snooze.

Location is close to highway but no other amenities close by. Asked about a gas station and didn’t get a answer or any help like an address. At 9:30 pm there wasn’t any place to get food in the town as far as I could find. Overpriced but then it is in Inuvik!

There was supposed to be a free breakfast included but the hotel didn't have an active food handling permit so there was no breakfast... unfortunately we were informed about that until we tried to get breakfast in the morning. The wifi in our room was weak to the point of not being usable so we went to the lobby (wifi was good there). Shower had good pressure and hot water. The town is small, which is a good thing because the hotel seems to be located almost at the edge of town (there are other hotels more centrally located). There were supposed to be laundry facilities onsite but there was only one functioning washer and dryer and they were for staff use. The staff were friendly.

Website indicates free breakfast but this was not supplied. One loose open teabag in room, when I asked for more they did not have any. Website says wheelchair accessible, but only if you lift the wheel chair up 6 stairs to the elevator. Two microwaves in common kitchen area did not work. Morning of checkout the elevators did not work and I had to ask…only then did staff reset a breaker.

Cet hôtel pourrait être dans une classe à part, mais nous avons l’impression que, pendant les deux années de pandémie, il a été totalement négligé. L’ascenseur ne fonctionne pas, la serrure des chambres est en panne (résultat: une employée doit accompagner chaque client qui souhaite réintégrer sa chambre), la salle à manger est totalement abandonnée… points positifs: la chambre est propre, la plomberie est en bon état de marche, le matelas est confortable, le mini-frigo fonctionne (mais fait un bruit d’enfer), il y a du café et du thé dans la chambre. Il y a aussi de l’espoir: Hope (ça ne s’invente pas!) a été dépêchée sur les lieux pour renflouer le navire! Dynamique, souriante, aimable et serviable, elle possède toutes les qualités nécessaire pour mener la barque à bon port. Nous lui souhaitons la meilleure des chances, car cet hôtel possède tout le potentiel qu’il faut pour devenir un incontournable à Inuvik.

It’s too bad that the staff don’t pick up the garbage and butts outside the entrance while they’re out smoking. The lobby, former breakfast area and stairwells are rapidly becoming a mess. The rooms aren’t too bad yet, but will decline under the current management.
