老郵局旅館(The Old Post Office Guesthouse)

The property has a good location in town and is easy to find. It is not far from conviencience elements (store, restaurants, gas station etc.). Given that it's a reconstructed post office, it was not surprising that the property looks aged a bit, but we were a bit surprised by the amount of ongoing work in the building (several rooms appeared to be under construction). It proved to be pretty quiet, since we were the only ones there. Generally the proeperty met expectations.

Old post office building converted to hotel. Our room had a magnificent view of Kirkjufell. Room was comfortable but could use an upgrade. There was no staff on site, and the phone you are supposed to use to communicate was not working, so it took a bit to get in at the start. In the village there is not much to do - there are only 2 restaurants and a couple coffee places. One of them, Valeria, is highly recommended and we actually had 2 free cups of coffee there offered by the hotel.

We had a great experience here! The beds were comfy and the bathroom set up worked well for the two of us. We enjoyed the use of the community kitchen and the proximity to all we wanted to see. The coffee coupon for the cute coffee shop down the street was worth its weight in gold! Delicious!!

Late check in is possible if you call. Most guesthouses seem to not have private bathrooms, but AFAIK, this guesthouse does. Also, the bathrooms were very nice, although the sink was placed in an odd location. The bed was also large and comfortable so that two people can sleep on it with ease.

Check in was fairly quick - self service. Common dining area was really nice and clean. Nice touch with towels inside an ikea cloth bag hanging inside the bathroom. Never seen something like this.
