佛蘭德酒店(Hotel de Flandre Ghent)

The room is spacious for 2 people. Clean and well maintained. Nice location and near to bus station.

De locatie van het hotel is perfect. In het historische centrum en een paar minuten verwijderd van twee parkeergarages. Ontvangst was vriendelijk en efficiënt. We troffen een tamelijk gedateerde en ruime kamer aan met vrij zachte bedden. Airco blies uitsluitend warme lucht de te warme kamer in en het jaren 60 raam open zetten gaf ruimte aan veel straat lawaai. De badkamer was voorzien van een merkwaardig hoog bad. Lastig voor iemand met rugklachten. Het goede ontbijt werd verdeeld in shifts. Wel een tip: plak viltjes onder de stoelpoten om de herrie wat te dempen. Vier sterren hotels horen meer te bieden dan wat we hier hebben ervaren. Hooguit drie is realistischer.

L'hôtel est très bien situé près du centre historique. Nous avons été un peu déçu par la chambre accessible pour handicapés parce qu'il est équipé d'une douche, ce que j'avais demandé. Bien que spacieuse elle manquait de charme et le mobilier datait. Le système électrique assez capricieux. Après une demande à la réception un chauffage a été ajouté dans la salle de bain. La chambre ne correspondait en rien aux photos publiees qui ont guidées notre choix. Le petit déjeuner est correct. Le personnel serviable.

Établissement à la situation parfaite, et dans une rue calme. Chambre de bonnes dimensions, très agréable. Propreté irréprochable. Excellent petit déjeuner. Personnel très sympathique et serviable à la réception comme au petit déjeuner. Deux bémols cependant : 1) Température très élevée dans la chambre (autour de 24° la nuit, même une fois la climatisation éteinte). 2) Matelas un peu trop mou à mon goût (c'est personnel)

Hotel de Flandre is een charmant hotel in een historisch herenhuis, vlakbij het centrum van Gent. De kamer, het ontbijt en de service waren uitstekend. Aline, de front office medewerker, was bijzonder vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Zij maakte ons verblijf extra aangenaam met haar attentie. We bedanken haar voor haar goede opvolging en service, en we raden Hotel de Flandre aan iedereen aan!

This hotel enjoys a wonderful location within feet of the old town. A 3 minute stroll takes you to a beautiful canal in the heart of the old city. The foyer, bar area and breakfast room are beautiful - full of character and period charm. Breakfast is good - even soy yogurts and milk alternatives were provided. Reception staff are mixed with some lacking basic hospitality skills. After a long journey you might expect a smile and a warm welcome, not rude as such but lacking charm. The rooms - I have stayed here 3 times in 3 different rooms, all of which were spacious. However, and this IS an issue for me, only a handful of rooms are in the main building. Some are in the external courtyard, worse still some are up external steps / decking (think American motel). I specified main building but they have a very liberal interpretation of this. It extends to all rooms accessed via the external courtyard. It wasn’t an issue for us as our room was 6 feet from the main door on ground level. I should also add that the room was very nice and spacious but stifflingly hot with no option to adjust the temperature. f you are on an upper deck, walking in the rain to go for breakfast may be a sticking point. The hotel also has another building (a 2 minute walk down the street) in a dark courtyard. The rooms are nice but make sure that you are aware of your accommodation. Having stayed in this part previously, I found it very annoying walking for breakfast and this area lacked the security of being in a hotel. In short, lovely location, nice hotel but do be aware of where exactly your room is situated - it could be in an external motel annex or in another building entirely. Tips : as you walk out of the hotel, turn right and right again by the Mariott and you will be by the canal. Tip 2 : there is an excellent supermarket directly opposite but it’s very easy to miss as it looks small and unassuming from the outside. Tip 3 : Tram no1 can be found directly opposite The Body Shop. It will take you to Sint Peters and very regular trains will take you to both Bruges and Brussels within 25 minutes at a cost of €10 ish per journey.

Nous avons réservé notre séjour quelques jours à peine avant notre départ. Les échanges avec l'hôtel ont été rapides et cohérents. Notre chambre, situé dans le bâtiment annexe était propre et d'une taille agréable. Le petit déjeuner, d'une très belle qualité, tant dans le choix des produit que dans la variété, vaut un brunch ;-) enfin la situation de l'hotel est idéale, à 3 minutes de l'hypercentre, est idéale pour un weekend / citytrip de courte durée. Nous y reviendrons!

We loved this hotel! All the details from the wonderful entrance, room with an incredible view over the city and even the breakfast with all the refinement and the wonderful waffle machine present at breakfast. Also worth highlighting is the cleanliness and friendliness of the staff.
