We have stayed at this hotel on many occaisions as it is very handy for trips into London from nearby East Croydon Station. This time it fell very short of the standards we have been used to. - The only plus was the excellent breakfast and the friendliness of the breakfast room staff, who are a true asset to Premier Inn. - However, would you want to sleep in this Premier Inn Bed? - We were shocked to find that it looked like the bedding had not been changed! When pulling the duvet back, we noticed a lot of short black curly hair all over the sheet, on one side of the bed a nasty looking red stain was visible through the sheet and on lifting the sheet, a red and brown stain were on the mattress cover. - We reported this to reception within an hour of checking-in, and since we were out until later that evening, we were told by a member of the staff that they would get the bedding changed. They asked if we minded someone going into the room, which we did not, as there were no valuables, which we made them aware of. The hotel was full, so we could not be moved. - When we returned around 23:45, we found that the bedding had not been changed. We went back to reception and mentioned how disappointed we were that the bedding had not been changed, but the staff member had no idea what we were talking about and had to make a call to ask someone to bring us replacement bedding. - Around 00:20 we got a knock on the room door and a staff member had some replacement bedding but said he could not enter the room and we would have to change the bedding! - We received two sheets and a mattress protector. You could see from the folded sheets just handed to us, that they were fresh and pressed and were completely different from what was currently on the bed! At this point we suspected that none of the bedding had been changed from the previous occupier of the room and decided we could not trust either the pillows or the duvet cover. - We slept between the two clean sheets we were given and were careful only to put the duvet on part of the bed. Thankfully, Premier Inn has two extra pillows in a holder with a paper seal on the zip to show they were fresh and unused, so the pillows on the bed were replaced with these! - Next day after breakfast, I spoke to a gentleman that I presume was the general manger and explained that while I understand mistakes happen, it was the way it was poorly handled and with the lack of any sort of understanding or apology. He did listen, apologise and was very gracious, but it did spoil our trip to London and our trust in Premier Inn and their promise to hygiene that they talk of on their web site! We generally felt that standards were poor, we noticed various stains on the seat of the only chair in the room and the sofa appeared grubby. - During our stay one of the lifts went out of action. The remaining lift had all the ceiling lights flashing flickering very fast. We mentioned this to someone in the lift with us that looked like they w
