Wow. What an experience the heritage is! The hotel has been recently renovated to a very high standard and has everything you would ever need. The reception was very well handled and all of the staff have been absolutely wonderful. A special mention to Louise, sarah and carla who were just the best! Nothing was ever too much for us all considering we were with a huge party of family attending a wedding. The room we had was an accessibility room, decent sized but may be a struggle with a wheelchair but table could be moved if needed. The bed was sublime! I have never slept so well and huge! The shower was excellent, although we did have an issue with water leaking into the bedroom but both the cleaners who were excellent (saline and nadia) sorted the issue straight away. The breakfast was lovely, did have to get down there early to get a cooked breakfast though as the hot food isn't replenished. Fresh bread and pastries however were plentiful and delicious. The tv in the room we had wasn't great for english channels but we were hardly in the room so not much of an issue. The bar is always open for whatever you need. The location of the hotel is simply perfect as it is close to the main areas and close to the stunning park. We didn't go to the restaurant but heard very good things about the food so well worth a try! We will hope to return as a couple in the future and look forward to it very much! Absolutely loved our stay here. All staff were happy and friendly and it feels as though everything is cared about from the cleaning, general look of the place and furnishings to the breakfast. The location is excellent, we parked the car opposite the hotel on the Friday evening when we arrived and didn’t use it again until we left on the Sunday morning. Perfect in every way.

Good location for visiting Cognac, Angoulême and environs. The hotel has views to the Charente river and beyond. You can visit the wild ”jardin respectueux” in front and reach the river on foot for pleasant promenades. The outdoor pool isn't heated, which would make it pleasant in the hotter months. In the price of the room, we were able to reserve an hour-long slot per day for the little spa with its hammam, sauna and jacuzzi. It could do with a revamp, as could the rooms, but the communal areas seem to have been renovated more recently. The set dinner menu at 33€ was excellent and the service from Thomas and his team was very good. The buffet breakfast was copious and was made up of a great deal of local, organic produce. High five for the scrambled eggs, which must have been made the traditional way over a bain-marie.
