Birdham酒店(The Birdham at Bembridge)

Have just returned from a very enjoyable three-day stay at The Birdham. My favourite things - the warm welcome we received, the softness of the bedding, excellent service from everyone, the food - delicious and freshly cooked and the silence at night. Very little on the negative side - our room was very warm, even with the radiator turned right down; finally, the bathroom was lovely and large but there was nowhere to put your toiletries, make-up etc. I would definitely stay there again if I was back in the area.

Went for dinner on a wet February evening. Received a warm welcome and attentive service. Meal was very good and a welcome change from the usual “pub grub”. The published standard menu was augmented by an a la carte menu for the day which offered plenty of choices. Wines were reasonably priced and will definitely return.

We booked this establishment because it said it had a large double bed. On entering the room, the bed was big and took up the whole room. Bed was uncomfortable (just a spring mattress) and you kept rolling towards the edge (not sure if because of the very uneven floor?) there was nowhere to put your things, a dressing table type unit with stool had the tea making items on it. The bathroom was big but nowhere to store your things no unit nothing. The towel rail was slightly loose so we didn’t want to hang a wet towel after use on it in case it came away from the wall. Behind the toilet it was dirty, overflow cover missing on the bath, and the light above the bath needed a new bulb. The whole lighting wasn’t very bright but it was ok for the time we were there. The room is extremely hot even with the bathroom windows and room window open (they only open a fraction) even with the fan on. The building is old so very creaky, so we heard every footstep from the room above, and the bathroom tap when used it sounded like it was in our room! We were offered another room but my husband was asleep and I didn’t want to disturb him, so we stayed in the room and as we were only there 2 nights. The cooked breakfast was nice and cooked fresh to order so we expected it to come from the kitchen hot, but it wasn’t. We had dinner one night and had the skewers, these were very nice. Overall staff are very nice, and location is good just a little attention to some tired areas of the room and bathroom including the window frame is needed plus a more comfortable mattress would really be good.

A really nice break at the Birdham at Bembridge. We stayed in room 9 which is on the second floor overlooking the internal courtyard so was lovely and quiet. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and efficient. Plenty of choice at breakfast including full English, pancakes, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon etc included in the price and we had a nice roast on Sunday. Live music on Friday night was also fun. The sea is an easy walk away as is Bembridge windmill. St Helens with another nice pub and restaurant and the Duver is an easy drive away.

Arrived at this humble establishment for dinner with the family, reasonably comfortable with the ambience of a donkey on roller skates. I assume the Lead waiter has just begun acting classes however, he does do a very good impression of Basil Fawlty from Fawlty Towers if you like that kind of experience, which I found highly entertaining and was a great distraction from the slop that was served for dinner. This does of course encourage customers to drink more alcohol.

Lovely aurprose as booked on line. The accomodation was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is excellent for quality, quantity and choice. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and again we couldn't fault the service or quality of the food. Highly recommend.

We had a great stay at the Birdham , good facilities and bed very comfortable. Best breakfast I’ve had staying in a B&B !

Overall the Birdham was very good. A great place to stay for good food and drink. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Rooms were comfortable and well equipped. My only gripe was the temperature of upstairs and the room.

We stayed for the weekend to visit my parents. We'd used the hotel for our wedding reception some years ago when it was called The Windmill. I'm glad to say that it has got even better since then. We would recommend the Birdham to anyone wishing to stay in Bembridge.
